At River City Mattress, we do not just sell mattresses, we sell Healthy Sleep! We separate ourselves from everyone else through education. Sleep is one of the most important things we can do for our mental and physical health. Sadly, many people think that a mattress is just a mattress, when a mattress is so much more.

Here at River City Mattress, it is our goal to properly fit each customer to their specific need to ensure they can achieve, develop, and maintain beneficial sleep habits. It is our belief that at any budget, we can and should offer our customers the best of what is offered in that category.

James and Tamera Wiley, a husband-and-wife team have a combined 38 years in the mattress industry both in manufacturing and retail. James’ path in this industry started in 1994 where he began learning the trade with Verlo Mattress in Peoria, Illinois. James’s experience began with hand crafting custom mattresses.

After seven years, James decided to take his training and experience on the road to Oklahoma, where he opened his first retail store. In 2007, James met Tamera, whose background was in early childhood education, and they relocated to Missouri, opening a retail store there. After 10 years, the couple came full circle returning to Iowa. They retired James’ parents after a successful 37 years in the furniture and mattress industry and opened River City Mattress, a retail store located in Mason City, Iowa. Over the years James has been involved with many manufacturers designing and producing mattresses. His experience and knowledge far exceeds what most people expect from their mattress shopping experience.
